Biodiversity Net Gain
Biodiversity Net Gain
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessment establishes the existing biodiversity value of a site and identifies how development can achieve measurable ecological improvement.
Our ecologists assess habitats, complete statutory metric calculations and prepare planning-ready outputs that support development while helping satisfy biodiversity requirements. Biodiversity value is measured using standardised biodiversity units generated through the statutory metric.
We support clients through every stage of the BNG process, from baseline habitat surveys and metric calculations to preparing Biodiversity Gain Plans for planning applications. Our team also develops Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs), which set out how habitats will be created, enhanced, managed and monitored over the long term to ensure biodiversity gains are successfully delivered.
These plans provide clear management prescriptions and monitoring schedules, helping developers and land managers maintain habitat condition and demonstrate compliance with BNG requirements for the required long-term period, typically at least 30 years
Fish Surveys and Fish Rescue
Safely capture and relocate fish before work to protect aquatic life and habitats.
Protected Species Surveys
Serve to detect legally protected wildlife before works to inform planning.
Preliminary Ecological Appraisal
PEAs rapidly assess a site’s habitats and species to flag ecological issues early.
Invasive Species Surveys
ID non‑native plants to guide land management & protect biodiversity.
River Condition Assessments
Assess river habitat to understand condition and guide restoration.
